Both of these pendants feature a slice of the Muonionalusta meteorite and a Maine mined gemstone. Centered in the pendants is a slice of the Muonionalusta meteorite; it is classified as a fine octahedrite meteorite and exhibits the Widmanstatten pattern that show the interweaving of taenite and kamacite.
Portal into Space
Portals are known for being a door, a gate, or an entrance. While not an actual portal to space, this necklace is a visual portal into the structure of a meteorite. Along with the meteorite is an aquamarine that measures 4.5 mm and weighs .34 cts. It was mined at the Fuller Mountain mine in Phippsburg, Maine from 2007-2010 by Gary Howard. Both stones are set in sterling silver.
Square Peg, Round Hole
Featured in this necklace is, again, a slice of the Muonionalusta meteorite and a Maine mined green tourmaline. The green tourmaline measures 5.5 mm and weighs .62 cts. It was mined at the Greenlaw quarry at Mt. Apatite in Auburn from 1908-1910. Mined by the Maine Feldspar Company.
