Watermelon Tourmaline Pendant

Watermelon tourmaline is well known in Maine; and for good reason. During the find of 1972-1974 at the Dunton Mine in Newry, the Plumbago Mining Corporation mined a metric ton of tourmaline. Within that find was crystals of watermelon tourmaline- the core of the crystals is pink and the outer rim is green. And that was it- two years of mining and then there was no more.
Each watermelon tourmaline is different and one of a kind. This slice measures just about 3/4" in length and1/2" in width. It weighs 25 carats and is set in 14K yellow gold.
Please know that watermelon tourmaline has natural inclusions in the stone. That being said, normal wear and tear shouldn't affect the stone. The cutting and polishing process is not easy and if the stone was going to break, it would have done so at some point during that process. But please don't drop it from 20'...that would affect the stone!
We do have other slices of watermelon available; please contact us for more information.
